When decorating your home, sometimes it’s the details that make the difference between an imaginative room and a ho-hum one.

Details, defined in this case as cabinet hardware, can play a big part in setting the tone of a room or a piece of furniture. And changing cabinet hardware-specifically the knobs and handles on your doors and drawers-is one of the least expensive ways to freshen the look.

If you think your choice of knobs and handles isn’t important, consider this comment from a specialist in home products: "Hardware is, or can be, the focal point of a room because much of it is at eye level when you walk in."
