ART IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND continued....
"We thought this might create an opportunity for us," Adler says. "We weren’t sure how it would do, so we went into it slowly."
At first, one or two people a week would inquire about Adler’s decorative hardware. Now, it’s about a dozen people a day.
"People want something different that they can’t find at the ‘big box stores,’ where there’s a very limited selection," Adler says.
Glass, brass, pewter and chrome are some of the substances from which high-end knobs are made. There are traditional, contemporary and modern knobs. They resemble animals and fish, plants and people, just about anything.
"When people come into our store, they’re surprised to see what’s available," Adler says.
Adler’s started with a couple lines of knobs, with each manufacturer’s line featuring anywhere from a couple dozen varieties of knobs, to a couple thousand.
Adler’s now carries 30 lines of knobs.
