Named for their shape, the aster is the Latin word for star.

Flowering late in the season, the beautiful range of colors in the 
aster family may help us forget that cold weather is on the way.

The aster’s plant symbolism means afterthought or a wish that things were different.
They are laid on the graves of French soldiers to show just that wish.
